Birds and flying insects

Look up in cold forests and groves for small, fluffy songbirds inspired by the Japanese long-tailed tit (shima enaga). Other small flying insects, like lacewings and mantises, add movement around grass and flowers depending on your version.

Spotting tips

  • Explore new chunks: many critters spawn as the world generates.
  • Press F3 to confirm the biome you’re in.
  • Use creative mode spawn eggs to learn what each looks like first.
  • Water breathing and night vision potions make ocean hunting much easier.
